I am eager to make and share my Project for Awesome video. I realize you can only submit your Project for Awesome video to main Project for Awesome Website by Dec. 17. However, can I submit my Project for Awesome video directly on YouTube before Dec. 17?
Absolutely! You can upload your video to Youtube at any time, share it around to your friends, family or anyone else.
Can we use music from our ipod that is copyrighted as long as we credit the artist?
It can depend, to quote the Youtube guidelines
Respect copyright. Only upload videos that you made or that you are authorized to use. This means don’t upload videos you didn’t make, or use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations. Read our Copyright Tips for more information.
Since all P4A videos must adhere to the Youtube guidelines, that means is if you don’t have permission from the creator to use the music, unfortunately you can’t.
In some situations, you may already have permission, if the music is licenced under certain Creative Commons licences, you may be able to use the music, so long as you credit the artist in a way that they’re happy with. Another example is DFTBA Records allows you to use music from certain artists providing you don’t monetize the video, and provide information on where to get the song (http://dft.ba/music-video-program). Other artists and labels may have something similar, but if it’s not completely clear you have permission you should probably contact the artist directly.
Hello! Sorry this has taken so long but, in case you missed it, we have (finally) announced the 10 charities the community chose to receive the money raised during the Project for Awesome:
Office of Letters and Light
Harry Potter Alliance
Save the Children
BGSU Dance Marathon
By March 22nd we will be contacting each organization individually to inform them of when the grants will be made and how much they should expect to receive. In all, we raised over $400,000 but are still calculating all expenses and fees of the perks and shipping - so we don’t have an exact number to share, but it is more than we ever thought possible. These grants will decrease some serious suck.
We haven’t announced the winners of Project for Awesome yet because we are still working out the finer logistics of actually giving the money to a couple of them. There’s some minor (and boring) administrative things we have to do in order to stay in compliance with the people that monitor that kind of stuff, and as soon as that is all handled we’ll break out the megaphone and let everyone know who to congratulate. That moment is coming very soon… stay tuned!
We are feverishly working on perks and shipping them out daily. When your perk has been shipped, our shipping software should send you an email letting you know which item was shipped. There are several perks that have been complicated by rejected addresses, return-to-senders, no-such-name reports from the post office, erroneous zip codes, etc etc etc.
If you have already sent an email to either email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org, your email has been received and will be handled as promptly and thoroughly as is humanly possible. You do not need to resend your email. Again, if you have already sent an email, it has been received, you do not need to resend. Doing so will only slow us down from researching and resolving problems.
That being said, here’s a list of what has been sent:
Men of YouTube Calendars Signed Pride & Prejudice books (Lizzie Bennet level) P4A tees w/ P4A lapel pin Hanklerfish art Felicia Day posters Hank’s Face mp3 John Green ebook John Green and Maureen Johnson short story Lower Thirds
If your perk is not listed above, please don’t email us yet!
Again, if you have sent an email about your non-receipt of any of the above perks, your email has been received and we are working on fixing it. Unfortunately there isn’t a blanket fix for problem shipments, each one has to be researched individually and that is taking us some time.
If you have NOT sent us an email about your non-receipt, please do alert us so that we can get you your deserved perk.
Thank you so much for your patience, your support, and your awesomeness!
I didn't get any of the electronic perks yet. Are they still coming? I thought they were being sent out via e-mail in December.
Sometimes the emails with the digital perks get sent to spam. If you picked
John Green Ebook
The Awesome List of Awesome
as your perk and haven’t yet received an email with the download link, send us an email to email@example.com. Try to use the email address you used on IndieGogo when you donated, or forward the receipt from your donation. We’ll try and get back to you within a few days.
If you ordered a ‘Men Of Youtube’ Calendar from the IndieGogo and supplied an address in the US, you might just have received an email from 2d-glasses.com saying your 2d-glasses have shipped.
This was our mistake, we’re using the same service to ship the Men of Youtube calendars as we use for 2d-glasses, we’re re-sending the confirmation emails now but if you received an email from 2d-glasses please just ignore it (unless you ordered some 2d-glasses, in which case your 2d-glasses are on their way).
Note this ONLY applies if your shipping address is within the United States. If you live outside the US we haven’t shipped your calendars yet but will be doing shortly.
We’ve all been busy at P4A HQ packing various perks for all the wonderful people who donated, over the last few days we’ve sent out emails to people who opted for certain perks to get more information about their perks.
If you opted for any of the following perks;
Hand-Colored Frezned Doodle
The Swoodilypooper Level
Custom Lower Third
Your Own Vlogbrothers Video
The Yeti Level
The Fault in Our Stars Level
P4A Shirt Level
And haveNOTreceived an email from us with a link to a form on projectforawesome.com to collect the additional information we need, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. You must use the same email address you used to donate at the IndieGogo.
If you opted for

And haven’t received an email with a link to the download contact email@example.com. Again you must use the same email you used on IndieGogo.
Hey! Just wondering, if we get the tshirt perk (which I just have - gonna die with excitement!) what is happening with it size wise? I was never asked what size I am, so I'm a little bit confused. <333
You will get an email asking you your size preference sometime soon. If any of you were on the fence about the shirt for this reason, your worries are over! Go get one now, there are less than 30 minutes to go!
Hello, I tried to contribute 20$ to your Campaign, but unfortunately every time I try to pay with PayPal, an error occurs and Paypal tells me that a recipent is not accepting payment at the Moment. The Indiegogo campaign isn't over yet, is it? Please help me quickly, i'd really like to donate and get the E-Book!
Unfortunately we’re having paypal-related problems, so that payment method has been disabled for the moment (though the issue’s being worked on). In the meantime, you can still donate by credit card. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for the support!
